Happy Saturday, questers! Today I’m thrilled to be part of the blog tour for the gorgeous Moonscript by Hannah Williams, which just came out this week! You may remember how much I adored her gender-bent retelling of Snow White, called Fairest Son… so needless to say, a full-on novel packed with Hannah’s gorgeous prose and lovely characters and ELVES is landing on my to-be-read pile at once.
I’ve been seeing her gorgeous character art and little hints at the story all over social media lately, which is just making me even more excited. It’s been a while since I read something with elves in it, and if the way she handled the wild fey in Fairest Son is any indication… *rubs hands together*
This is going to be good.
Anyway, after I show you this beautiful book and share the links to the rest of the blog tour (where you can find more book spotlights, reviews, and author interviews)… I’m stealing the Moonscript Instagram challenge and treating it as a blog tag. 😛 So read on!
“It is said that Darkness is empty and whatever vanishes into its depths is lost forever. I know this better than anyone. For I have suffered here in the shadows, and there are none who might find me.”
Seventy years. Seventy years the elven prince has been lost to the darkness, assumed dead by his people and endlessly broken for a book that connects to the hidden realm of his ancestors, a land untouched by evil.
And now a light in the shadows. A chance for freedom. But those willing to help him come from the unlikeliest of worlds.
The orphan girl, yearning for a loving family, and the boy who won’t leave her side. A healer maiden given an unexpected chance for a life beyond narrowed expectations. A grieving creature flown far from home.
They all search for something and now their fates are tied to his. If their quest for life can pull him from the dark mire in which his soul drowns, then perhaps he can be saved.
Or else he will drag them all down to a fate worse than death.
The beginning of an epic saga, MOONSCRIPT is a journey of innocence, despair, and redemption.
Seven illustrations by the author exclusively included in the paperback edition!

Ahhhh! Doesn’t that blurb sound amazing? A tortured elven prince is enough to bring on all the heart eyes from this fantasy reader, never mind the promise of a whole cast of lovable characters.
So! To add a little more fun to the celebration of Moonscript‘s release, I’m going to blitz through that Instagram challenge I mentioned and recommend a novel for each prompt. Maybe you’ll find even MORE books to add to your TBR, alongside Moonscript. 😉
1. Favorite Books with Elves
Sword in the Stars // Wayne Thomas Batson // sprawling fantasy world, a quest for redemption, fabulous creatures (and though there may not be “elves” exactly, at least one of the races is pretty close)
2. Stars on the Cover
Defy the Stars // Claudia Gray // space, sacrifice, a cyborg, and fantabulous pacing
3. Moon in the Sky
Moonblood // Anne Elisabeth Stengl // stabby unicorns, moonlight, goblins, and redemption
4. Forest-Theme
The Hazel Wood // Melissa Albert // dark and murderous fairy tales, road trips, the Hinterland, and great prose
5. Healing Tea
The Chronicles of Narnia // C.S. Lewis // reading these magical adventures warms and comforts me like a steaming mug of tea
6. Favorite Work by Tolkien
The Hobbit // J.R.R. Tolkien // are you really going to make me decide between LOTR and The Hobbit? (Sorry, haven’t read anything else by Tolkien—YET.)
7. Moonscript Release Day
It was Thursday, May 7th! Yay!
8. Favorite Classic Young Heroine
To Best the Boys // Mary Weber // to be honest, I’m not sure Rhen Tellur counts as “classic”—she’s rather unconventional in her society, actually—but she’s awesome all the same
9. Best Tortured Hero
Red Rising // Pierce Brown // Darrow is one of the most tortured heroes I’ve ever read—physically and emotionally
10. Most Hated Villain
The Wish Granter // C.J. Redwine // magical deals, blood, baking, and as for hated villain: Teague is fascinating, but he’s AWFUL, okay?
11. Noble King
Raven’s Ladder // Jeffrey Overstreet // weary refugees, corruption, and noble King Cal-Raven struggling to find a home for his people
12. Books with Smugglers
Ink and Bone // Rachel Caine // black market books, heresy, school, squad goals, and Alexandria
13. Flying Creatures
Masters and Slayers // Bryan Davis // dragon slavemasters, sword-wielding heroes, emancipation, and an excellent plot
14. A Book to Relax With
Peter Pan // J.M. Barrie // flying to Neverland with the impish Peter Pan and the Darlings is the perfect sort of story to relax with
15. A Message of Hope
A Time to Rise // Nadine Brandes // pain, reform, a dystopian that’s actually hopeful
Oooh! I look forward to reading this one!
Oh, me too!!! Now if only Amazon would hurry up and ship non-essential goods a little faster. 😛 (I’m mostly kidding… because non-bookish things really do deserve their focus anyway. But still.)
Eeee, thank you! And I LOVE how you did my challenge for recommended reads!
My pleasure! I can’t wait to read Moonscript! <3 Aw, thanks--I fell behind on Instagram things and figured this would be a fun way to salvage the prompts, haha.
I have been SOOOO looking forward to this one. I MUST get my hands on it. It sounds like it’s so up my alley. I NEEEED!!!! *heart-eyes*
And OOOOH. You listed so many other great books. Moonblood, The Hazel Wood, Narnia, The Hobbit, To Best the Boys, Masters and Slayers, Peter Pan, A Time to Die–SO MUCH YES. SO MUCH. I 100% agree with all your thoughts on those. Perfect picks! And basically ALL the others are on my TBR. We have like the exact same reading tastes and I LOVE it! 😀
Saaaaame! I’ve heard great things! Fairest Son blew me away, so I NEED MOONSCRIPT NOW, PRECIOUS. 😀
Haha, thank you! I totally forgot you’ve read The Hazel Wood–so I peeked at your Goodreads review just now, and we had a lot of the same thoughts. 😉 We’re basically book twins. IT’S THE BEST. <3
I’m SO EXCITED to read this one! I don’t have it yet, but I NEED it! (and all these picks are fabulous!!) 😀
Yay!!! It’s high on my TBR too. *all the heart eyes* (Ahh, thank you! You have good taste in books. 😉 )
We always need more elf centric books. I just got ahold of To Best the Boys, can’t wait to read it.
YES, WE DO. *nods vigorously* Ooooh, you’ll have to tell me what you think of To Best the Boys! 😀
