A reimagining of Sleeping Beauty

Status: Querying

Luci hates the forced perfection of her magical gifts. Yet when she succumbs to a hundred-year sleeping curse, she finds the dream realm to be a far worse prison. Walking through dreams in search of another dreamer to rescue her, she unwittingly calls dozens of sleepers to their deaths, and vows never to ask for freedom again.

But her extended stay in this realm is causing nightmares to escape into the waking world. And far away, a prince is dreaming too. If he is to save the weeping maiden haunting his dreams—and if she is to save him—there will be a high price to pay. For as the fairies say, truest love bleeds.

Welcome to Absurdity

Status: Currently writing

No blurb yet. Let’s just say it’s a YA psychological thriller/horror that might be Ted Dekker’s Thr3e meets The Maze Runner meets Sharon Cameron’s The Dark Unwinding… with a dash of escape room vibes and quite possibly a murder mystery.

Dead Magic

Status: Drafted

Tami Muller isn’t sure what she expected her sophomore year of college to look like, but it wasn’t this. Dropping out of school to scrape together her tuition, she picks up shifts at her uncle’s shop, Sebastian’s Magickry—where the only people fooled by the fairytale trinkets she sells are the gullible tourists passing through Thatcher, British Columbia.

But the man who steps into the shop after closing one day is anything but a tourist. With a flick of his wand, the shop’s inventory bursts to life. Magic carpets, beans, and tridents, oh my! It’s utter chaos, and the damage better not come off her paycheck.

With his parting words, the man informs Tami that she—and the entire world’s technology—are responsible for killing magic in the first place. Soon, Tami, Uncle Sebastian, and Oscar (a former college classmate with an annoying supply of literary knowledge) are swept up in a race against time to stop this man from waking up magic across the country.

But magic was already stirring long before he arrived, and maybe it needs to be woken.

Maybe Tami’s not the magic killer, but the magic liberator.

Journeys of the Chosen Series*

*Working title

This big, epic project—the series that taught me to write—was birthed circa 2008. It’s a YA portal fantasy rife with dragons, quests, world-changing conflict, and yes, even chosen ones. The books are in various stages of disarray, but I hope to one day deconstruct everything and do a total rewrite. One day.

The following books make up the series as it stands right now.

Book 1: The Prophet’s Quest

Status: Complete; shelved

Book 2: The Prophet’s Key

Book 3: Untitled

Mirrors Never Lie

A retelling of Snow White

Status: Complete

Skadi wasn’t born a hunter. But when tragedy forces her away from her home clan, she falls in with the seven huntsmen and soon learns how to shoot a bow and skin a deer. Yet a piece of her never got the chance to say goodbye to her old life.

When a mirror from the past draws her back across the fjord years later, she follows. Along the way, the mirror’s reflections tell stories. Stories spun into strange shapes that do strange things to Skadi’s mind. Meanwhile, a legendary lindwyrm stalks the woods, with its hungry gaze set on her second home—the home of the seven huntsmen.

Skadi will never let them burn, but according to the mirror, that means she must stand in the path of the flames. Mirrors never lie, people say. That may be so, but this mirror doesn’t reflect the whole truth.
