When Love Runs Red
by Tracey Dyck
When Love comes down to authored world—
Conceived within a virgin girl,
Laid to rest in bed of straw—
Come to satisfy the law . . .
When Love walks with the least of these
And answers blind men’s searching pleas;
Touches lepers, calls forth the dead,
And finds no place to rest His head . . .
When Love endures the scoffers’ words,
The hatred by His enemies stirred;
And bows to take a crown of thorns,
The cross upon His shoulders borne . . .
When Love climbs up that hill of death
And cries forgiveness with final breath—
When wrath of God on Him does fly
And night engulfs the weeping sky . . .
When Love runs red down rugged beams
And wrongs are washed by scarlet streams,
When blackest sinner becomes white,
Declared by God to be made right . . .
How can our hearts not drown in this?
This flood of grace, redemption’s kiss?
How can we not succumb to Him?
In light of this, all else grows dim.
When Love emerges from the grave,
Makes children of the serpent’s slaves,
The victory won, the chasm spanned,
In glorious light we Beloved stand.
This was so beautiful Tracey, I loved it! Thank you for posting this wonderful poem :).
Thank you, Savannah! Have a wonderful Easter! 🙂
Oh my. Oh MY. TRACEY. I…I have no words. This makes me speechless. Wow. Just…wow. Such powerful words!
"Makes children of the serpent’s slaves."
I'm going to cry.
This was amazing. I can see your passion through your words, and it's beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing!
Also Chris Tomlin! 😀 He's basically my favorite contemporary Christian singer. That one of his is SO powerful, I love it! Of course, I love ALL his songs. All so good!
What's neat is that I barely had any idea what I wanted to post this Easter weekend. I sat down last night to prepare this, and all of a sudden I was writing the first stanza of a poem. So I ran with it, and the words just flowed. God is amazing. ^_^
And thank you so much! I'm glad it touched you, m'dear. <3
Chris Tomlin writes wonderful songs! Some of my favorites of his are Waterfall and No Chains on Me, though it's hard to pick. Like you said, they're all so good! (I don't suppose I could force you to name a favorite or two? XD)
That is so awesome!!! I love when the words just flow and you can feel God's presence in them. I don't know if there's any better feeling. It's amazing.
Yesssh, I love those! And you can DEFINITELY get me to name some favorites. Always.
I think my top favorite of his is Our God. After that…ugh. I don't know, so many good ones! Waterfall is amazing, yes. I love I Will Follow, No Chains on Me, Awakening. (The And if Our God is For Us CD is my favorite of his CDs and all those songs are on it.) Then there's Awake My Soul. You Lifted Me Out is a lot of fun. Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) is gorgeous.
Um…that's more than a favorite or two. I own all his CDs and listen to them on a constant basis so…yeah. I get a little enthusiastic. Eheh. After Owl City he's my favorite singer, so. XD
It is seriously THE best thing to experience when writing!
Our God is a great song! We used to sing it in church all the time. *All* the songs you named are really good. Oh, and I forgot to mention Good, Good Father! Have you heard that one? Amazing.
Haha, that's awesome! Worship music like his is always uplifting, I find. Enthusiasm is a wonderful thing, Christine. ^_^(And woohoo, Owl City!)
Thank you, Tracey!
The poem and song- lovely!
Thanks, Blue! ^_^ I love that song. It's one of those I definitely don't mind having stuck in my head.
Dear, dear Tracey…how can I ever thank you for this? I know I'm really behind on all your posts, but I just had to comment on this one specifically because, girl, it has POWER. I mean, REAL POWER. I read this and now I'm tearing up. I actually really needed to hear this today because it's so easy for me to forget the power (yes, I'm using that word again) of Easter. I hear the "story" so many times that I forget what it really means. And this reminder…gosh, it really struck a chord in my heart.
Just…just the gift God has given you is incredible. Keep using your beautiful words, dear friend! <333
Have a most glorious Easter, Tracey! Thank you so much for reminding me of the meaning of this special day.
Girl, you've just warmed my heart. Seriously. I'm so, so thankful (and humbled!) that God would use my words to speak to you. *hugs* And yes, oh yes, it is regretfully easy to forget the power of Easter. The power of grace, of Jesus' sacrifice… We hear it so often that our minds grow numb, and we forget to open our hearts to it. But when we remember–when we realize the staggering beauty of it all–there's nothing like it.
Thank you, Mary! I hope your Easter was glorious as well! You're precious.
Wow! That was beautiful! God has given you a gift. Happy resurrection day!
Thank you, Emma! Happy Resurrection Day to you as well (one day late)! 😀
Beautiful!
<3
Beautiful! Happy Easter! I hope you had a great one!

Oh, this is so beautiful! God's love is indeed a marvelous thing to think about.
It's breathtaking, when you think about it. Thank you, Lucy! ^_^
This is so beautiful! Wish I would've seen it earlier to read it on Easter, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 😀
Thank you muchly, Katie! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^
Absolutely gorgeous. I love it! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much, Jenelle! I hope you had a great Easter. 🙂
Oh my gosh! When I started reading this I thought it was some song lyrics you were sharing, but, nope, "by Tracey Dyck"!!! This is properly beautiful, I love it, especially the penultimate verse. Really really wonderful.
Oh my, really? ^____^ Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. And I just have to say that penultimate is a five star word. *applause*
This is beautiful Tracey! I love it!
